Web Scavenger Hunt Lesson Plan


The Elements of Art


Subject Matter: Visual & Performing Arts

Grade Level:  4nd grade

Lesson Objective: Learners will demonstrate knowledge of describing and analyzing the elements of art (e.g, color, shape/form,line, texture, space, value).

Subject Matter Content Standard:
1.0 ARTISTIC PERCEPTION
Analyze Art Elements and Principles of Design

1.5 Describe and analyze the elements of art (e.g., color, shape/form, line, texture, space, value), emphasizing form, as they are used in works of art and found in the environment.

2. Website Addresses Used as Resources:
1. http:// http://www.getty.edu/education/teachers/building_lessons/formal_analysis.html This website describes what each element of art means and how and why it is used in a work of art.  It provides pictures to show as examples.
2. http:// http://www.artsz.org/art-elements/ This website states the importance of the elements of art and it describes what the elements of art are.

10. Where can they be found?

Assessment: 
The websites provide great information to answer the questions.  Students are learning to look for and find information on the internet.  They are learning how to use the computer and the internet.  Student enjoy using the computer and going on the internet.  This would be a great experience for them.  Students learning will be assessed by checking to see if they were able to answer the question correctly.
